Who is a shepherd? A shepherd is a person who takes care of sheep. Sheep are animals that require great care because of how delicate they are. Sheep also feel the safest when they are with someone they know which in this case is their shepherd.
In today's devotional, we are reminded of Jesus as the Good Shepherd. You are the sheep and Jesus is the Shepherd. Now, a shepherd watches over the sheep and makes sure that nothing bad happens to them. For example, when it is dark at night and the sheep are scared, the shepherd moves close to them in order to comfort them so that they do not fear.
Since, the sheep spend a lot of time with the shepherd, they get to know the shepherd's ways and his voice. So wherever the shepherd is, the sheep follow because they trust the shepherd knowing that He will help to take care of all their needs.
As a child of God, the best way for you to know Jesus is through reading His Word. The Word of God is God Himself. As you spend time reading your Bible, you will get to know more about Jesus as your Good Shepherd and you will trust Him to guide you in everything you do and everywhere you go.
Let's pray: Jesus, thank you for being my Good Shepherd and because You watch over me everywhere I go, I can move without fear in the name of Jesus. I also ask You, Jesus, to help me pray and read my Bible everyday in the name of Jesus, Amen. Thank you LORD.
